The School of Medicine wishes to recruit a Lecturer (Education Focused) to work with undergraduate medical students and fulfil the role of Year 2 Lead for the new Scottish Graduate Entry Medicine (ScotGEM) programme.  The successful applicant will work as part of our multi-disciplinary teaching staff, providing undergraduate medicine teaching.  Applicants with a background in a range of disciplines are welcome; the School has a pressing need for pharmacologists but applicants with a background in clinically orientated basic sciences, clinical skills or communication skills will also be considered.

ScotGEM is a new graduate entry, undergraduate, four-year, MBChB programme; backed by the Scottish Government and run in partnership with the University of Dundee, University of Highlands and Islands and four NHS Boards.  The School of Medicine is looking to recruit a lecturer to be the Year 2 Lead, which represents an exciting opportunity to become a key member of the team developing this new and innovative MB ChB course.  Working closely with the ScotGEM Programme Director and Programme Manager the post holder will lead on delivery of Year 2 of the MBChB. 

The successful candidates will:

•    Have experience of teaching medicine or another healthcare discipline at undergraduate or postgraduate levels
•    Be a proven course leader at UG or PG(T) level.
•    Hold a qualification that equips the individual to teach at undergraduate level.
•    Be able to demonstrate understanding of the clinical relevance of teaching a Primary Medical Qualification (PMQ).
•    Have experience of distance or blended learning as well as an enthusiasm to develop and successfully deliver the innovative ScotGEM curriculum

Primarily based in St Andrews, there will be a regular requirement for travel to Dundee and occasional travel to other areas of Scotland.
