We seek to appoint a full-time, fixed term Associate Lecturer (Education Focused) with expertise in Environmental/Ecological Economics within the School of Geography & Sustainable Development. The post is fixed term for 6 months to start 14 January 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter.

We invite applications from highly motivated individuals with interests in Environmental/Ecological Economics and a commitment to excellence in teaching.  You will contribute to the highly successful MSc programme in Sustainable Development and Environmental Economics and will also contribute to the undergraduate programmes in Sustainable Development.

The role will focus on teaching at the MSc level and involve engaging the interest and motivation of students, and inspiring them to learn by fostering debate and developing their ability to engage in critical discourse and rational thinking.  You will work as a member of the Sustainable Development team under the overall direction of the School’s Director of Teaching, reporting to the Head of School.  You will be encouraged to seek ways to improve performance by reflecting on teaching design and delivery, and by analysing feedback.  You will have excellent organisational and administrative skills, and the ability to communicate complex information and ideas effectively.

You will have completed, or be about to complete, a PhD in Environmental Economics, Economic Geography or a related area. Some experience with a range of teaching formats, including lectures, tutorials, seminars, field classes and the supervision of group work, would be an advantage, as would experience of teaching within the Scottish university system.
