Research Fellow - AR1236HM

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Research Fellow who wants to contribute to furthering understanding and promoting knowledge of adolescent health in Scotland and beyond. The post-holder will work on the Health Behaviour of School-aged Children (HBSC) study, an international study of adolescent health and wellbeing conducted in 48 countries across Europe and North America in collaboration with the World Health Organisation. The main purpose of the post is (1) to analyse data from the 2018 Scottish HBSC survey across topics such as physical activity, substance use, sexual health, family life, social media use, and (2) to disseminate key findings to a range of stakeholders in order to inform national policy and practice.  

The successful candidate will be based within the Child and Adolescent Health Research Unit (CAHRU) within the School of Medicine, but will also have the opportunity to work with international colleagues and contribute to the wider development of the study through the international HBSC network.

Applicants should have strong data management and data processing skills and the ability to undertake statistical analysis independently. S/he should also have knowledge of adolescent health and wellbeing, experience of writing up research results in reports and academic publications, and excellent written and oral communication skills.

The post is full-time and available until 31 December 2020.
