Admissions Manager – AD1977GB

An attractive opportunity has emerged to join the Admissions team at the University of St Andrews in a new role as Admissions Manager, with a particular focus on postgraduate taught (PGT) applicant experience, from enquiry to matriculation. We are seeking a dynamic, innovative and experienced professional to help manage and support a busy Admissions team, reporting to the Assistant Director of Admissions (Applicant Experience), working closely with the Admissions Management Team, while also helping drive forward a large and new initiative by the University in the area of PGT digital programmes. As such, we are looking for someone with experience of recruiting and admitting to PGT digital programmes.

The University has recently launched the Digital Education Innovation Scheme (DEIS) which is designed to help Schools ambitiously grow their PGT numbers through programmes delivered digitally (either wholly online or blended, with an optional summer residential element). Students taking these courses will have access to a personalised PGT education (e.g., via adaptive learning) delivered using asynchronous and synchronous teaching, which has been designed for the digital environment. There will be September and January entry cohorts for digital PGT programmes, and this may increase in the future, so the ability to work across multiple entry cohorts in a given academic year is essential. The post-holder will advise on the most appropriate channels to support prospective digital PGT enquiries. There is a dedicated team set up across the University to enable the successful delivery of DEIS however, this new role of Admissions Manager will be pivotal in that success being realised.

In addition, the successful candidate will possess strong communication skills with experience of liaising with a broad range of people. As part of the role, the post holder will be required to regularly interact with academic Schools as part of our coordinated admissions approach, as well as supporting academic colleagues in the creation of new programmes from inception to launch. Finely tuned communication skills will also enable daily liaison with other professional service Units including Academic Registry, Student Services, Careers and many others.

The responsibilities of the role are varied as can be seen above, with no day ever quite the same as the next. It is a fast moving, collegiate and results driven working environment representing one of the UK’s leading university brands. The post holder will have responsibility for pulling cohesive qualifications and entry requirements together with input from market experts in the Admissions team. It is also a key objective of the Admissions Unit to improve accuracy of offer making predictions through data and statistics, and this post holder will play a key role in making this happen. The successful candidate will have responsibility for Visitor Experience for postgraduates, both digitally and in-person, as well as having the opportunity to present the PG programmes we offer in a timely and effective way to prospective students.

Whilst this role has a main focus on launching DEIS from an applicant experience and recruitment perspective, the successful candidate will also play a significant role in admissions decision-making, processes and procedures, data analysis and trends. This is vital work to inform the Admissions Management and Admissions Leadership Teams, enabling them to take strategic decisions to meet our targets.

Before an appointment can be confirmed, you will be subject to a PVG check.
