A theory post-doctoral position is available to work in the Theoretical Quantum Information group of Dr. Natalia Korolkova (https://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/~qoi/). The position is funded by the EU Flagship Quantum Technologies to work on the project “PhoG: Sub-Poissonian Photon Gun by Coherent Diffusive Photonics”.
The goal of the project is to deliver deterministic and compact sources, PhoG, of highly non-classical states, from sub-Poissonian light to multi-mode entanglement and develop their applications in advanced optical imaging and metrology. You will be part of the international consortium with leading groups in theoretical quantum optics, quantum integrated optics, laser inscribed photonic waveguide networks and a private company in metrology and time/frequency standards.
You should hold a PhD in physics and have experience in theoretical quantum optics and quantum information. Experience in one or more of the following is desirable: dynamics of open quantum systems, sources of non-classical light, application of non-classical light in metrology and sensing, nonlinear optics. Initiative and eagerness to work closely with experimental groups aiming at the real world technological applications is essential.
Applications are particularly welcome from women, who are under-represented in Research posts at the University.
The University is committed to equality for all, demonstrated through our working on diversity awards (ECU Athena SWAN/Race Charters; Carer Positive; LGBT Charter; and Stonewall). More details can be found at http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/hr/edi/diversityawards/.
