Research Fellow in Experimental Condensed Matter Physics (Laser-based spin-resolved ARPES) - AR2054SB

We are seeking an ambitious and motivated postdoctoral research fellow to join a major research effort focused on high-resolution spin- and angle-resolved photoemission (SARPES).  The successful candidate will work within the electronic structure group of Dr. Phil King at the University of St Andrews, UK.  They will take a major role in the design, installation and commissioning of a state-of-the-art system for laser-based spin-resolved ARPES, recently funded through a major EPSRC Strategic Equipment Grant, and will use this for the study of spin-orbit coupled states in two-dimensional materials.  We seek an outstanding candidate who can make contributions across both the scientific and technical aspects of this project, and who will join an active research group currently including 4 PDRAs and 5 PhD students and a technician, whose research interests include 2D materials [1-3], correlated electron physics [4-6], and topological and Rashba systems [7,8].  Further information on the group is available at http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/physics/condmat/arpes

Applicants should have, or be about to obtain, a PhD in condensed matter physics, should be well motivated and hard working, and should have experience with spin-resolved photoemission techniques, ideally including experience in the design, commissioning, or maintenance of such systems.
