Associate Lecturer (Education Focused) in Organic Chemistry - AOAC3513XXHM

The School of Chemistry at the University of St Andrews aims to appoint an Associate Lecturer (Education Focused) in Organic Chemistry from 1st July 2018. The position will be fixed term for a 2 year period.

St Andrews Chemistry is a dynamic teaching and research environment with ~35 Academic staff, ~140 Ph.D students and 60 PDRAs.  We offer undergraduate courses to MChem level and in 2015 St Andrews Chemistry graduated the largest class in our history.  Undergraduate teaching is delivered across five undergraduate years.

We welcome applications from outstanding candidates who have developed an interest and expertise in undergraduate teaching. The position will have a focus on Organic Chemistry and the successful applicant will have an aptitude for teaching across all aspects of the undergraduate curriculum. A Ph.D in an appropriate area of Chemistry is essential, and you will already have experience teaching at university level. The successful applicant will respond to the Head of Organic Chemistry and be required;

1.    To perform a broad range of undergraduate teaching of fundamental organic chemistry through lectures, tutorials    and laboratory classes.

2.    Introduce innovations in the delivery of organic chemistry teaching, in support of existing courses.

3.    To play a role in Outreach activities.
