Applications are invited for a Research Fellow to work in the laboratories of Dr Gordon Florence within the School of Chemistry and Biomedical Sciences Research Complex, involving the synthesis of functionalized biocompatible polymers for surgical applications. This is a multidisciplinary project involving the Schools of Chemistry and Physics in St Andrews and the Institute of Medical Science and Technology (Dundee), funded by the EPSRC. The post is available from 1 May 2012, or as soon as possible thereafter and for a fixed term period of one year.

You will have a PhD in organic chemistry, ideally with a strong background in the synthesis and characterization of polymers. Experience in the formulation and applications of polymeric biomaterials is highly desirable, though not essential.
