The Museum of the University of St Andrews (MUSA) is looking for a motivated individual with excellent organisational skills and a commitment to customer service for the position of MUSA Operations Officer.

The MUSA Operations Officer will provide day-to-day operations management for MUSA and will actively develop the museum to ensure it retains its 5 star status (Visit Scotland VAQA scheme). This will involve working with Unit staff (including the Collections and Learning & Access teams) to ensure that MUSA offers excellent standards of customer service and a high quality visitor experience.
 
The MUSA Operations Officer will line-manage the museum’s Front of House team, which comprises 3 Senior Visitor Services Facilitators, and casual staff and volunteers.  S/he will be based partly in MUSA (including undertaking reception duties) and partly in the Museum Collections Unit offices.  The post holder will manage the MUSA Friends group, develop the retail and venue hire functions of the museum and oversee the management of the website and other publicity. In addition, s/he will oversee the Unit’s marketing and social media strategies, assist with visitor studies, and provide senior administrative support to the Co-Directors of the Unit.

Previous experience of working in a customer-focused environment is essential, and you should have practical experience of managing and developing staff, excellent communication skills and a demonstrable interest in working in the museum or heritage sector.

This is a full-time post and the successful candidate would be required to start by early July 2015 or sooner if available.
