Research Fellow (Role of misfolded HLA-B27 in ankylosing spondylitis)
The School of Medicine at the University of St Andrews invites applicants for an 18 month post-doctoral Research Fellow position in the area of the autoimmune arthritis ankylosing spondylitis. The research involves conducting experiments into the role that misfolded HLA-B27 molecules play in the pathogenesis of the disease process.

You should hold a PhD with research experience in immunology, with knowledge of mass spectrometry of proteins and bioinformatic handling of large protein datasets. You should also have prior publications in international peer-reviewed scientific journals.

The project is funded by an 18 month grant from Arthritis Research UK, and will be conducted primarily in the laboratory of Dr Simon Powis in the School of Medicine, and the Mass Spectrometry Facility in the Biological Sciences Research Complex, with Dr Catherine Botting. Some experimental work may also be performed in the laboratory of Dr Antony Antoniou at Nottingham Trent University.
