Details
We wish to appoint a Lecturer within the School of Classics.

You will be a scholar with a growing international research reputation and commitment to delivering high-quality teaching within any area of Classics.

The successful candidate will be expected to have a range of interests, to be active in producing internationally excellent research publications that strengthen or complement the School’s existing expertise, and to be capable of outstanding teaching to undergraduate and taught postgraduate students from a wide range of backgrounds.

Candidates should hold a PhD in a cognate discipline. We particularly welcome applications from candidates whose work has the potential to extend the School’s teaching and research into fields beyond our current expertise, in any area of the study of classical antiquity (defined in the broadest possible terms, to include history, literature, philosophy, art, archaeology, with a wide geographical range which might include cultures and regions beyond the Mediterranean centres of Greek and Roman culture, and including all periods of classical antiquity and also the reception of classical culture).

Excellent teaching skills and an interest in promoting knowledge exchange are essential. You should also have some familiarity with grant-seeking processes in relation to research councils and other sources.

Informal enquiries can be directed to Professor Jason König, Head of School (jpk3@st-andrews.ac.uk).

Applications are particularly welcome from women, who are under-represented in Arts posts at the University.
