The University of St Andrews Finance department currently has 53 members of staff.  Its main function is to provide support and advice on finance-related matters to the University Academic Schools and Central Units, in order to pursue the University’s charitable objective which is the pursuit and furtherance of education through excellence in teaching and research.   

The Financial Accounts Section is a team of 5 members of staff with responsibility for all aspects of Financial Reporting, Capital Budgeting, Tuition Fee & Endowment Accounting.  

You should be extremely well organized, have a positive attitude and an ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.  As a member of the Financial Accounts section, reporting to the Senior Financial Accountant, you will be a team player and an excellent communicator (verbal and written) with the ability to work with and build strong relationships at all levels, including Senior Executive staff, within Finance, Central Units, and Academic Schools.   

Educated to at least HNC/HND level is essential. A relevant accounting degree, studying towards or willing to study towards a professional accounting qualification and / or experience of working in a busy finance office would be very advantageous. Experience of capital accounting, capital budget management and cash flow projections would also be a significant advantage.  

The successful candidate will be eligible for consideration for the University’s Professional Accounting Support Scheme which provides financial support to individuals seeking to obtain a professional accounting qualification.   

This post is fixed until 30 April 2018 and may be considered as a secondment.
