The Department of Geography and Sustainable Development (DGSD) is seeking to appoint a new technician to support growing teaching and research in physical and environmental geography. We are looking for someone who has interests and expertise in the running and maintenance of laboratories for environmental research, and supporting students and academic staff with their practical work.The Environmental Change Research Group is very active in publishing and in research grant applications. Details of our research can be found in at http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/gsd/research/ecrg.  We are seeking to provide improved support to a growing number of academic staff in this area. 

The successful candidate will be responsible for day-to-day management of the Environmental Change laboratories. S/he will assist academic staff in their research and laboratory teaching, support taught undergraduate classes and assist undergraduate and postgraduate students with practical aspects of dissertation and thesis projects. The postholder will also be responsible for maintaining health and safety in the laboratories, and sourcing and maintaining consumable stocks. The successful candidate should have appropriate skills and experience with laboratory work.

The starting date for the position is flexible, but as soon as possible and no later than 30th September 2016.
