The Department of Geography and Sustainable Development has recently invested in the field of environmental economics, appointing a new Professor (Nick Hanley) in June 2014. We are now seeking to appoint a suitably-qualified person to a new lectureship in environmental and development economics. Ideally, we are looking for someone who has interests and expertise in the fields of sustainable development, growth, and economic geography, but talented researchers in all fields of environmental economics are welcome to apply.

The Environmental Economics Research Group is very active in publishing and in research grant applications. Details of our research can be found in at http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/gsd/research/envecon. We are seeking to broaden our research in a number of areas including spatial economics and economic geography, behavioural economics, and “green growth”. We are also building strong links with colleagues in spatial analysis and environmental policy within the Department, and with researchers in Biology, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics and Computing Science within the University.
 
In terms of teaching, we have a very successful one-year taught MSc in Sustainable Development which the environmental economics team contributes to (www.st-andrews.ac.uk/sasi/teaching/msc/). We are launching a new MSc in 2016 in Sustainable Development and Environmental Economics. The person appointed to this post will carry out teaching duties in undergraduate economic geography and environmental economics, and MSc teaching in environmental economics and sustainable development.
