Title
Research Fellow in Chemistry (Porous Solids) - AR1838SB
Vacancy Description
School of Chemistry, Salary: £31,656 per annum, Start: As soon as possible, Fixed term for 12 months
Details
We now seek to recruit a highly motivated individual for a Grant-funded Research Fellowship position to work in Professor Paul Wright’s Group at St Andrews.

The successful applicant will join a team at St Andrews, Edinburgh and Bath with the aim of understanding and applying ‘adaptable’ zeolites as selective adsorbents for fuel-related molecules. The consortium will develop the use of flexible zeolites whose pore size can be modified by cation exchange or which exhibit cation gating effects [see Chem. Mater. 2014, 26, 2052-2061; Nature, 2015, 524, 74-78; J. Phys. Chem. C, 2016, 120, 19662]. This will be achieved by combining synthetic, structural and adsorption studies at St Andrews with Chemical Engineering (Edinburgh) and Modelling (Bath, Edinburgh).

Candidates should hold a PhD in Chemistry, Materials Chemistry or related discipline and have experience in synthesis and characterisation of solids.

This is a 12 month post in the first instance with the possibility of extension for a further 24 months.

Informal enquiries can be directed to: Prof. Paul Wright, EaStCHEM School of Chemistry, University of St Andrews.  Email: paw2@st-andrews.ac.uk.   Tel: (0044) 01334 463793.
