IT Services at the University of St Andrews is undertaking an extensive programme of business transformation projects, the aim of which is to further streamline administrative processes and improve the Student and Staff experience.

The University recently undertook a major review of its academic processes and procedures focusing both on organisational change, represented by management and committee structures, and the procedures and processes underpinning these structures; with the overall aim to find new and more efficient ways of handling its academic processes, even if these involve significant breaks from the past.

An integral part of this programme is to provide secure and easy to use decision support tools which will enable access to good quality, up to date management information in the form of reports, KPIs, dashboards and metrics. To address this need the University has purchased and implemented a specialist Business Intelligence tool called QlikView.

QlikView is widely used across the institution and there is an increasing demand for Business Intelligence reports to provide timely and accurate management information. We are therefore seeking to expand our team to meet the growing demand for QlikView developments.

The successful candidate will form part of the Enterprise Applications & Infrastructure Team. Within this team is a wide range of skills in areas including IT system management, software development, business application development and Business Intelligence development. The team is strongly customer focused and staff are encouraged to keep their skills up to date and to share knowledge and expertise freely with their colleagues both within IT Services and across the University.

The role holder will be part of a small team based in IT Services. The Business Intelligence Team delivers and supports the complete development life cycle of Business Intelligence software end user applications, including user requirements gathering, business systems analysis, application development and application support.

Educated to degree standard, the successful candidate will be highly numerate and proficient in data management. Additionally they will have:-

  • Excellent analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication skills and an ability to work with both end users and technical colleagues to deliver solutions on time and to specification.
