The main Library building of the University of St Andrews will begin a major refurbishment programme in June 2011, which necessitates the complete relocation to temporary accommodation of the Special Collections Department and its extensive collections of rare and early printed books, manuscripts, archives and photographs. A Project Manager is sought to effect this move by 1 June 2011, and the return of the collections to the Main Library building on completion of the refurbishment in late 2012, whilst ensuring the safety and security of the collections at all times.  Working closely with the senior staff of the Department, the Project Manager will report to the Head of Special Collections, and will be responsible for managing a team dedicated to the project. If appointed, you will be a dynamic and focussed individual, with experience of project management within the cultural heritage sector, able to work with initiative and self-reliance as part of a close-knit team. You should be able to demonstrate ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure whilst remaining flexible in meeting objectives. You will have a good eye for detail, and a high degree of personal organisation. Excellent communication, management and leadership skills are essential. Understanding and knowledge of the nature and purpose of historic research collections is crucial.
