The School of Biology at the University of St Andrews is one of the leading departments of Biology in the UK. To fully embrace our biodiversity, the School’s research and degree programmes covers all aspects of Biology, including Biomolecular Sciences, Cell and Systems Biology, Evolution and Animal Behaviour and Marine Biology.  

The School of Biology’s Centre for Biological Diversity (CBD) is looking for a full-time Research Support Technician who will be part of a team responsible for the support of research laboratories within the School of Biology. The Centre for Biological Diversity builds on the School’s strengths in fundamental and applied research into the origins and maintenance of biodiversity, and encompasses many aspects of evolutionary biology, ecology and behavioural science. The core group of the CBD is based in the newly refurbished Sir Harold Mitchell Building.  

You will work with senior technical staff to provide a wide range of services required for the smooth running of research programmes within the Centre.  

In addition to having good Highers, laboratory work experience and able to work as part of a team, you must be flexible and comfortable with the need to change working priorities at short-notice. Previous experience supporting research in the laboratory environment is highly desirable.
