The Sea Mammal Research Unit (SMRU) is a world leading research unit investigating all aspects of sea mammal biology. The unit has statutory responsibilities and provides independent advice and expertise relating to marine mammal conservation and management.
The School of Biology is looking for a new academic leader for the Sea Mammal Research Unit. Applicants for the post should have a strong track record of research and publication in areas relating to sea mammal biology, proven qualities of academic leadership and extensive experience of interacting with diverse stakeholders and funders. The Director of the SMRU is expected to inspire and nurture interaction within the unit and contribute to academic goals set by the Director of the Scottish Oceans Institute.
