The School of Art History at the University of St Andrews seeks to appoint a Lecturer who will contribute to teaching both on the Museum & Gallery Studies postgraduate programme as well as the undergraduate and postgraduate programme in the History of Art. Approximately 50% of the postholder’s time will be spent in each of these roles.

You should hold a good university degree and preferably have experience of working in a museum. You should already have or be close to completing a Ph.D.  You should be able to provide evidence of your research abilities in the form of publications that will be suitable for inclusion in the School’s submission to the Research Excellence Framework in December 2013, as well as a programme of on-going research that will contribute to our reputation as one of the leading Art History departments in the UK. Other evidence of research activity (e.g. grants awarded, conference papers delivered, exhibition involvement) will also be taken into account.

You will be expected to contribute through lectures and other forms of student interaction to the Museum & Gallery Studies Master’s degree programme and to offer attractive, undergraduate modules in some area of the History of Art and/or Design. You will also be required to contribute lectures on our first and/or second-year survey modules of European art from c.1300 to the present day. Working with postgraduates, both teaching M.Litt. classes and supervising Ph.D. research, will also be a vital part of your role.

You will also be expected to develop a research programme leading to high quality publications.
 
Like other members of the School you will be expected to take on administrative tasks as required.
