Applications are invited for a John Templeton Foundation funded research assistant to provide computer-programming support to a team investigating aspects of human cognitive evolution using experimental games. The successful applicant will work under the supervision of Professor Kevin Laland and Dr. Luke Rendell to develop computer programmes in Java, and possibly other languages (for example, Python), designed to investigate patterns of human social learning and cooperation. The position is available for 1-year (position will end no later than 30 May 2016). Candidates should have a degree in computer science. Experience of Java is essential, and experience with Remote Method Invocation and network protocols is highly desirable. The position commences asap.
