BSc (MEDICINE) CLINICAL PROGRAMME LEAD AND GP LEAD

The School of Medicine is seeking an experienced and enthusiastic individual to lead the clinical teaching component of the undergraduate medical programme at St Andrews. This highly responsible post will be 0.5 FTE with the University. It is envisaged that the post holder will be a GP and that the remaining 0.5 fte time of the post will be held with NHS Fife in general practice but this is negotiable.  The post holder will be the Clinical Skills Lead and GP teaching co-ordinator in the School of Medicine. The role is primarily around the clinical teaching of the St Andrews School of Medicine Students in the three years they are in the School before they move to the affiliated Schools to complete their Primary Medical Qualification (PMQ). The post-holder will be part of the teaching management structure of the School and support the BSc Medicine Course Director in the design, delivery and quality assurance of the undergraduate medical teaching programme. They will represent the School of Medicine as the clinical teaching lead to various outside bodies. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that the School adopts best practice in medical education in the clinical teaching programme and exploit the considerable potential for community-based clinical education afforded by the close liaison with NHS Fife. An appropriate clinical contract with Fife Health Board and the relevant teaching Division of the Health and Social Care Partnership will be arranged.  The salary will be on the clinical academic scale as appropriate.
