IT Services is responsible for providing, developing and maintaining the University’s central IT infrastructure and for the delivery of a wide range of technology-based services to both staff and students.  We are now looking to appoint a Network & Infrastructure Technician to support a team of specialists in developing and maintaining the University data network and associated infrastructure including data centre provision.

Key tasks will include:
•    Network documentation 
•    Patching of data circuits
•    Updating switch and router firmware
•    Low level equipment replacement
•    Liaising with maintenance contractors
•    Maintaining a safe working environment in server rooms

With a minimum of 6 standard grades or equivalent at Level 3 or above, to include English, Maths and a Science subject and experience of working in a Networking-related role, candidates should also have:
•    The capacity to learn procedures and practices
•    The ability to work openly and cooperatively with others and to understand and respond to needs of end users
•    Knowledge and understanding of general computer applications and general network concepts and technologies.

Experience of working in a customer facing service would be an advantage.
