A part-time Receptionist ((8am-1pm) or (12.30pm-5.30pm) will be discussed at interview) is required to provide comprehensive and professional support for the Principal’s Office located in College Gate at the University of St Andrews. This is a varied role providing the opportunity to work as part of a large team in a busy office environment.  You will be responsible to the Executive Officer to the Principal’s Office for maintaining high standards and service quality for all aspects of the operation of the reception desk and related administration.  Candidates must be able to prioritise their workload and accommodate ad-hoc duties assigned to them by the Principal’s Office team.  A good working knowledge of the key activities carried out in College Gate, and the University in general, will be an advantage.  Excellent customer service skills and the observance of confidentiality are required at all times.   

A strong team player with exceptional interpersonal skills, you will have the ability to demonstrate initiative, manage a busy workload, thrive on task variety, welcome learning opportunities and enjoy interacting with a wide variety of people at different levels across and outwith the University.  Your key competencies will include operational knowledge of reception procedures and the capacity to work both with and without supervision.  You must be well versed in the use of word processors and have the ability to use other aspects of Information Technology such as databases, spreadsheets, World Wide Web and email.  You should be educated to standard grade level or have the equivalent of several years’ of relevant experience, particularly having held a receptionist’s role.
