An opportunity has arisen for a motivated individual interested in developing their publications career in a thriving Development Office.  We are seeking a well-organised and highly motivated individual to undertake the Publications Officer role in support of the University’s Development programme and the ongoing fundraising mission of the University.

The Publications Officer will play an important role for Development in generating copy for both printed and online literature as well as coordinating the social media presence for alumni and parent audiences. Working across the department, the Publications Officer will coordinate sending the monthly e-newsletter out to all University stakeholders, generate copy for fundraising brochures and literature, and work alongside the fundraising team to create a suite of bespoke proposals.

Working within the Events, Stewardship, Publications and Alumni Relations team the Publications Officer will advise on all aspects of generation of printed materials and will coordinate jobs with the Print and Design team within the Corporate Communications Unit, ensuring that all newly created items of Development printed material are completed within the University’s brand guidelines.

The Publications Officer will have an excellent eye for detail and creative flair for writing engaging content. Working in close liaison with the Head of Events and Publications, the Officer will generate a host of new copy for the department and will be responsible for commissioning copy from academic staff and external writers.  Under the guidance of the Head of Events and Publications the Officer will also coordinate the commissioning of photography suitable for use within a range of published materials.

The right candidate will be educated to degree standard, have demonstrable experience in excellent copy writing for both online and hard copy publications and will be a highly organised, motivated and capable individual. Project management experience is vital as is an understanding of the importance of philanthropy to the advancement of higher education.

The remit of the Development Office is to develop and strengthen the University's position at the forefront of teaching, learning and research by inspiring active participation, investment and loyalty to St Andrews.   We do this through fundraising for key University priorities and developing mutually beneficial relations with our 50,000 alumni, friends and benefactors worldwide.
