IT Services at the University of St Andrews is seeking a highly proficient and motivated Technical Operations Manager to play a critical role in leading the management and implementation of the University’s end user device portfolio and for the strategic development of the audio visual service.

Working with the wider University IT community to ensure end user device support for these areas is fully integrated and that students and staff receive a holistic support offering, the Technical Operations Manager will also work very closely with IT service desk staff and staff in the desktop development area to ensure support is efficient and that proactive monitoring and diagnostics are undertaken on end user devices.

This position offers the opportunity to have a significant positive impact on the experience of our staff and students in the areas of teaching, learning and research. You will deliver a refresh of our desktop services portfolio to achieve a flexible, secure and stable platform. In addition, you will lead the implementation of strategies for the continual improvement of our media services offering; in particular our regular lecture room refresh programme.

This is an exciting and varied position. The Technical Operations Manager will be involved in working extensively with others across the University to ensure optimum availability of end user devices and audio visual systems.

It is essential that the applicant can offer significant management of large similar teams as well as technical leadership.

Educated to degree standard, the successful candidate will be highly numerate with proven management experience in a technical, customer focused environment and with detailed knowledge of the principles and practice of IT Service management in a higher education environment.
 
Additionally they will have:-

• Proven ability to lead, support and motivate others within the team to achieve business objectives.
• Excellent communications, interpersonal and organisational skills and a high standard of professionalism as well as the ability to manage resources creatively and work to tight deadlines.
• Ability to develop and lead the implementation of strategies to maintain and improve audio visual and end user computing 
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills.
