The University Library is looking for a well-motivated individual to become one of our Deputy Cataloguing and Metadata Managers based in our Cataloguing and Metadata Team. The Team is made up of 15 staff.  The primary role of the post is to provide managerial support for the Team alongside the other Deputy Managers under the direction of the Cataloguing and Metadata Manager.  You will provide general cataloguing training, cataloguing support and quality control, and you will contribute to the planning of the work of the section.   You will be responsible for managing the ingest of supplier created e-book catalogue records in to the University Library catalogue, SAULCAT, and the export of St Andrews’ records to other resource discovery services.  You will also be closely involved with our project to implement the new RDA standard. 

You will have a good general education to degree level or equivalent. You will be able to demonstrate experience of database work. A good working knowledge of cataloguing practice and standards is essential as well as experience of working in a library environment.  Knowledge of European languages other than English would also be useful. Intensive training will be provided on key systems.

You will be required to demonstrate an ability to work alone and as part of a team, also an ability to work under pressure to targets and deadlines. You will need to demonstrate the ability to communicate well with work colleagues and users. Good IT skills ie. WORD, Excel are required. Supervisory and training experience would be helpful but is not essential.

This is a full-time post, available from September 2013
