The School of History is seeking to appoint a Professor of Modern History specialising in any historical field, geographical region, and chronological period between c. 1500 and c. 2000.  

Applicants should show evidence of outstanding productivity and quality in their own research.  They must also have displayed a high quality of teaching at university level, including an ability to bring enthusiasm and imagination to tutorials, seminars and lectures. They will be expected to contribute fully to the research, teaching, and administration of the School.

Application Procedure  

Applicants should submit a letter of application along with a curriculum vitae and the names of three referees. In addition to a full list of publications, the candidate should submit a research plan covering the next five years. The appointment committee would also like a description (in the format indicated here: http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/history/undergrad/ugthirdlevel.html) of two newly designed 3000-level Honours options the candidate would be prepared to teach.  

Applicants are advised that the total length of their application (including all documents) must not exceed 10 sides of A4.    

Interviews will be held in December 2012.
