We are looking to appoint a highly motivated and experienced Roofing Assistant to join our multi-disciplinary maintenance team responsible for the operation and maintenance of a wide range of services throughout the University Estate. 

You should have extensive roofing experience in the capacity of assisting tradesmen in all their activities. Primarily a maintenance role, you should have previous experience of slating, tiling, various flat roof mediums, cement work and the like, access provision and be confident working at height. You should have experience of property maintenance, jobbing type repairs and general construction maintenance over all roofing mediums in place throughout the University Estate. You will be well organized and ideally have knowledge of other associated construction trades.

You should have excellent communication skills and a keen and helpful manner. The ability to cope well when under pressure and the ability to demonstrate a flexible approach is essential. You should be able to work effectively both independently and as a team member.

Excellent terms and conditions apply – 36.25 hours/week (normal working hours generally apply but specific timings will vary between work colleagues to suit any operational needs); additional payments for out of normal work hours rota; 35 days annual leave including statutory days in the first instance, rising to 39 days including statutory days after 6 years’ continuous service; contributory pension scheme.
