Founded in the early 15th century, St Andrews is Scotland’s first university and the third oldest in the English speaking world.

Residential and Business Services employs approximately 350 staff (100 full-time and 250 part-time positions). The operational activities of the fourteen units are directly managed by managers who report to the Director.

The University of St Andrews is seeking to make two key appointments of Deputy Director (Operations & Accommodation) and Deputy Director (Commercial, Catering & Hospitality) within Residential & Business Services.

Reporting to the Director of Residential & Business Services (Ben Stuart), the Deputy Director (Operations & Accommodation) will take responsibility for developing a world class residential development strategy and cohesive operational delivery of a growing residential estate.  The Deputy Director (Commercial, Catering & Hospitality) will manage and be responsible for defined financial delivery targets associated with attracting conference business from both Academic and non-academic business streams, as well as term and non-term time commercial business growth.

Both post holders will each lead teams of around 150 professional, technical and operational staff as well as seasonal support staff.

Successful candidates will have exceptional interpersonal leadership skills, and significant experience of managing within the role at a proven senior level. The post holder will be expected to develop exceptional performance and service quality throughout Residential & Business Services. Candidates will have experience of leading, motivating and developing, diverse in-house teams and forming strong relationships with other University units.
