Title
Research Fellow, CRISPR - AR1748RML
Vacancy Description
School of Biology, Biomedical Sciences Research Complex, Salary: £31,656 - £34,576 per annum, Start Date: As soon as possible, Fixed Term: Up to 24 months
Details
CRISPR-Cas is a recently discovered prokaryotic adaptive immune system with exciting applications in genome engineering. The CRISPR-Cas system is far more complex than just Cas9, and many fundamental questions about its mechanism remain unresolved. We wish to recruit a Grade 6 postdoctoral research fellow to study the molecular biology and biochemistry of the CRISPR system. The successful applicant will ideally have expertise (Industrial or Academic) in molecular biology, protein characterisation and biochemical assays. Experience working with protein:nucleic acid complexes, or in single molecule techniques would be an advantage, but training is available.

The post, which is available immediately, will be for up to 2 years in the first instance and is funded by the BBSRC. Candidates must hold a PhD or be about to submit one.    You will join a well funded, enthusiastic and friendly lab working on aspects of the CRISPR system and DNA repair in new, purpose built laboratories.

Informal enquiries can be made to Professor Malcolm White, e-mail: mfw2@st-andrews.ac.uk.

Applications are particularly welcome from women who are under-represented in Science posts at the University.  You can find out more about Equality and Diversity at https://www.st-andrews.ac.uk.hr.edi/
