Title
Research Fellow in Organic Optoelectronics - AR1871SB
Vacancy Description
School of Physics & Astronomy, Salary: £32,004 - £34,956 per annum, Start: As soon as possible, Fixed term for 12 months
Details
Organic semiconductors are promising materials for next generation optoelectronics, combining tuneable optical properties with simple fabrication.  Exciton diffusion is an important process in the operation of organic optoelectronic devices such as solar cells, OLEDs and lasers that you will explore as part of an ambitious project supported by the European Research Council.

This position requires either materials and processing knowledge that can be applied to enhancing exciton diffusion or experience of alternative ways of measuring exciton diffusion (e.g. by steady state spectroscopy or device operation).  It requires prior experience of working with organic semiconductors and it is desirable for candidates to have experience of making photophysical and structural measurements of the resulting samples.

You will hold, or be near to completing, a PhD in a relevant physical science.

The appointment will be for an initial period until 31 May 2018, with possibility of extension subject to funding.  A related position (AR1640RSB) explores time-resolved measurements of exciton diffusion.

Applications are particularly welcome from women, who are under-represented in Science posts at the University.  You can find out more about Equality & Diversity at https://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/hr/edi/
