Salary: Lecturer £38,511-£47,328 per annum, Senior Lecturer, £48,743-£54,841 per annum
Applications are invited for a position in New Testament Studies at St Andrews University’s School of Divinity. All applicants must have appropriate academic qualifications in some area of the Study of the New Testament, including an awarded PhD. Relative to the level of appointment sought, an appropriate experience of successful teaching, assessment and supervision of students at undergraduate, taught Masters and Research Postgraduate levels will be expected.
Applications will be welcomed from candidates demonstrating expertise in most areas of New Testament, but preference will be shown to those who complement the School’s existing strengths. The following specialties are especially sought: in terms of focus, Johannine literature and Revelation, Gospels, Luke-Acts; in terms of approach: theology of the New Testament, New Testament Ethics, the relationship of the New Testament to the Old, the Ancient Jewish context of the NT. Linguistic competence in Greek and Hebrew is assumed. A clear and informed interest in the NT text’s linguistic, literary and theological qualities will be required. Some familiarity with the history of NT interpretation and scholarship is essential, and some awareness of how New Testament studies links to other sub-disciplines within Divinity and to subject areas outwith Divinity is desirable.
Appointment at Senior Lecturer level will be considered for candidates who have the appropriate level of experience.
