Salary: £38,511 - £47,328 per annum,
Start: 1 September 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter
The School of English seeks to appoint a Lecturer specializing in any aspects of Victorian literature. The School has particular strengths in eighteenth-century, Romantic, fin de Siècle and early twentieth-century literature and culture, with colleagues working in inter-medial relations (art, music and photography), medievalism, periodical culture, reception theory and Anglo-European relations. We are seeking someone whose work will either be complementary to these areas, or might open up new kinds of specialisation within the School. You will be expected, in the first year, to teach a module on ‘Self and Society in the Victorian Novel’ and, thereafter, to design and deliver honours modules in nineteenth-century literature. You will also be expected to take a significant role in the development and delivery of the School’s MLitt in Romantic and Victorian Literature, and to contribute to various other aspects of teaching at all levels within the School. You should have successfully completed a PhD in a relevant area and have an established record of high quality publications.
