The School of Medicine is seeking to appoint a statistician to work on the Determining the Impact of Smoking Point of Sale Legislation Among Youth (DISPLAY) Study. This is a six year policy evaluation study funded by the National Institute of Health Research, and involves a collaboration between the Universities of Stirling, St Andrews and Edinburgh, ScotCen and the Scottish Collaboration for Public Health Research & Policy. The study consists of four strands: a spatial analysis of retail outlets; a retail tobacco marketing audit; a survey of secondary school pupils; and a focus group survey. The post holder will be based in the Child and Adolescent Health Research Unit (CAHRU), University of St Andrews.  CAHRU is a multi-disciplinary research unit dedicated to improve understanding of child and adolescent health in Scotland and internationally and provides a vibrant research environment  

The primary role of the post holder will be to synthesize the data from the different research strands of the study, lead on the longitudinal analyses of the data sets and coordinate statistical analyses across the four strands. As a member of the DISPLAY team, the role holder will work closely with the PIs of the different stands of the DISPLAY Collaboration. He/she will be part of the DISPLAY steering group.  

The successful candidate will possess advanced multi-variate statistical expertise, including training and skills in longitudinal analysis. He/she will have experience in working in multidisciplinary teams.  

The post is for a fixed term until 31 December 2017.  We are looking to appoint somebody January 2015 or as soon as possible thereafter.
