The School of History is seeking to appoint a Research Fellow on the research project “Roma Civic Emancipation Between The Two World Wars (ERC Advanced Grant 2015, Nr. 694656). You will possess a PhD in an aspect of Romani Studies and have a good knowledge of Romani and at least two other languages of Roma publications (Russian, Serbian, Bulgarian and Romanian). Your principal duties will be to produce a research monograph on the Roma literature and journalism between two Wold Wars; to assist in the collecting, classification and analysis of back-ground information and publication of Roma organisation and activists for inclusion in a database which will be one of the project’s outputs; and to assist in the administration of the project through the organisation of workshops and the publication of their proceedings.  

The post will be available for four years from 1 September 2017.

Applicants should submit a letter of application along with a curriculum vitae and the names of three referees. In addition, the applicants are also asked to submit a sample of published or unpublished written work, not exceeding 10,000 words.
