The School of Chemistry at the University of St Andrews aims to appoint a Teaching Fellow in Chemistry from 1 July 2016 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position will be fixed term for a 3 year period.

St Andrews Chemistry is a dynamic teaching and research environment with ~38 Academic staff, ~140 PhD students and 90 PDRAs.  We offer undergraduate courses to MChem level and in 2015 St Andrews Chemistry graduated the largest class in our history.  Undergraduate teaching is delivered across five undergraduate years.
 
We welcome applications from outstanding candidates who have developed an interest and expertise in undergraduate teaching. The position will have a focus on Physical Chemistry and the successful applicant will have an aptitude for introducing and developing contemporary methods for chemistry undergraduate learning and assessment. A Ph.D in an appropriate area of Chemistry is essential, and you will already have demonstrated some aptitude in teaching at university level. The successful applicant will respond to the Head of Physical chemistry and be required;

1. To perform a broad range of undergraduate teaching of fundamental physical chemistry through lectures, tutorials and laboratory classes.
2. To introduce innovations in the delivery and assessment of physical chemistry teaching, in support of existing courses, particularly at undergraduate laboratory level.
3. To support the teaching of mathematics integral to physical chemistry, to ensure key concepts are grasped.
4. To develop practical and analytical skills via selective introduction of new laboratory experiments at sub-honours and honours levels.
5. To be a member of the School Teaching Committee.
