Student Services, Salary: £33,199 - £39,609 per annum, pro rata, Start Date: As soon as possible, Fixed Term: 40 weeks, Part Time: 12 hours per week

The purpose of this role is to support the University in meeting the needs of students with complex or enduring mental health problems.  This will involve facilitating and coordinating access to appropriate mental health services and working within Student Services Matching Care model, deliver evidence based interventions and assistance to students in a manner that promotes their autonomy and independence. Meetings with students primarily on a one one-to-one basis, but also by telephone/email support, using online tools and assessment measures. The role holder works as a member of the Student Services team in a flexible, collaborative and responsive manner. 

The Cognitive Behavioural Therapist or Clinical/Counselling Psychologist will be educated to degree level or equivalent, and will have relevant professional qualifications and experience of working with adults and / or young people with serious or enduring mental health difficulties. Experience of working within a further or higher education setting is desirable and knowledge of relevant legislation relating to mental health and disability is essential.  

The post-holder will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be able to deliver training, and will be able to work independently and as part of the wider Student Services team. The post holder will work within the Matching Care model with colleagues who work as Wellbeing Advisers, Counsellors, Coaches and Mental Health Coordinators.  Additionally, they will liaise with academic schools and the wider University as required and will work closely with external agencies (such as General Practitioners, Community Mental Health Teams and Social Work), to ensure a collaborative and holistic approach.

The successful applicant will play a key role in supporting the University’s response to critical student incidents where mental health may be a contributory factor. They will also be responsible for working within existing policies and assisting in drafting new policies and resources, as appropriate in support of students with complex mental health difficulties. A flexible approach, including working extended hours as required, is necessary for this role.

This post is fixed term, working 12 hours per week for 40 weeks.
