We wish to appoint to a Lectureship within the Department of Social Anthropology (School of Philosophy, Social Anthropology and Film), a scholar with an international reputation.

You will have a proven track record of securing significant grant funding and leading high quality externally funded research projects. The successful candidate will be expected to have a range of interests and to be highly active in research publication that strengthens or complements those in the Department. You will also have a commitment to delivering high quality teaching within the broad field of social anthropology, and to be capable of teaching the subject to undergraduate and postgraduate students from a wide range of backgrounds.

Candidates must hold a PhD in social or cultural anthropology. You will have an internationally recognised research record and a clear programme of anticipated research activity for the coming years. You will have excellent teaching skills and an interest in promoting knowledge exchange.

The vacancy is open in regard to any anthropological specialism, ethnographic and conceptual orientation. Complementarity with existing departmental strengths, building on the history, reputation and present character of St Andrews anthropology, will also be a factor in determining the best candidate.
