Research Fellow - AR2316SB
School of Geography & Sustainable Development

School of Geography and Sustainable Development, Salary: £34,304 - £37,467 per annum pro rata, Start: As soon as possible, Fixed term until March 2022

We are seeking to appoint a Research Fellow to work within the Centre for Population Change (CPC) on the Internal Migration theme, funded by the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). The post will be part of the St Andrews team of CPC, and part of the broader Centre for Population Change which is a collaboration between the Universities of Southampton, St Andrews and Stirling (see www.cpc.ac.uk). The Research Fellow will be based in the CPC at the School of Geography and Sustainable Development, which hosts several projects on migration, health and fertility including those funded by the ESRC, ERC and GCRF. The Research Fellow would work directly with Professor Nissa Finney, Dr David McCollum and Professor Hill Kulu to examine the associations between residential and occupational mobility.

The CPC migration team in St Andrews conducts three projects: a) residential mobility (led by Dr Nissa Finney); international students’ mobility (Dr David McCollum); and c) the impact of Brexit on the UK’s population (Prof Hill Kulu).

This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic and dedicated researcher to work in an international team of researchers on a highly relevant topic. The Research Fellow will have responsibility for research design, data work and writing for publication. They will also contribute to CPC workshops/events. The candidate should have a Masters qualification in a social science discipline (including Geography, Population Studies, Migration Studies, Urban Studies, Sociology, Social Statistics) and expertise in quantitative secondary data analysis. Good communication and management skills are essential.

The post is available to start as soon as possible, to March 2022.

Informal enquiries can be directed to: Professor Nissa Finney, Nissa.Finney@st-andrews.ac.uk; Dr David McCollum (David.McCollum@st-andrews.ac.uk), and Prof Hill Kulu (Hill.Kulu@st-andrews.ac.uk).

Applications are particularly welcome from women and ethnic minorities, who are underrepresented in Science posts at the University.
