School of Modern Languages, Department of Chinese Studies Salary: £33,797 per annum Start Date: 1 September 2021 Fixed Term: 2 years

The School of Modern Languages seeks suitably qualified applicants with excellent command of spoken and written standard Chinese for the position of Research Fellow (Chinese Cultural History).  

The successful applicant will contribute to a long-term project led by the Founding Chair of Chinese Studies, Professor Gregory B. Lee, on the Cultural History of the People’s Republic of China 1975-2025.  

 Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in contemporary (post-1949) Chinese cultural studies - literature, visual culture, cultural and intellectual history. Applicants should have experience of working or carrying out research in China as well as in the use of research methodologies and techniques relevant to work within the area.
