Admissions
Due to the retirement of our current Director of Access an exciting opportunity has arisen for someone with extensive access and widening participation experience to lead the access work at the University of St Andrews.
The University has many flexible entry routes to degree level study which consider the context of applicants and their potential. Over the past decade the University has invested heavily in access and widening participation activities and as a result we have joined up our projects and built-up long-standing partnerships in order to deliver high quality outreach programmes reaching over 1,000 pupils per year.
Through this investment the University has seen a larger proportion of the student body coming from a wider and more diverse background, more than doubling the entrants from the most deprived backgrounds and growing the intake of students with access markers to over 40%. This has brought an enrichment to the student body, one which the University is committed to maintaining and developing further.
The successful post holder will lead, direct and enhance all of the existing access work, ensuring that the University continues to maintain the highest standards in this area, and work with senior management to develop and embed new strategic access initiatives. For further details please take a look at the Further Particulars.
The University is committed to equality for all, demonstrated through our working on diversity awards (ECU Athena SWAN/Race Charters; Carer Positive; LGBT Charter; and Stonewall). More details can be found at http://www.st-andrews.ac.uk/hr/edi/diversityawards/.
