The School of Chemistry at the University of St Andrews aims to appoint an Associate Lecturer (Education Focused) in Organic Chemistry from 1st September 2022. This position will be fixed term for 24 months.  

 

St Andrews Chemistry is a dynamic teaching and research environment with around 40 Academic staff, about 140 PhD students and 60 PDRAs. Our undergraduate courses are delivered across five years up to MChem level. In addition, the School runs postgraduate taught degrees (MSc Chemical Sciences and MSc Catalysis).  

 

We welcome applications from outstanding candidates who have developed an interest and expertise in undergraduate teaching. The position will have a focus on Organic Chemistry and the successful applicant will have an aptitude for teaching across all aspects of our undergraduate curriculum. A PhD in an appropriate area of Chemistry is essential, and you will already have experience teaching at university level. The successful applicant will report to the Head of Organic Chemistry and be required:  

 

1.    To teach organic chemistry at all levels of our degree programmes through lectures, tutorials and laboratory classes.  

 

2.    To deliver innovation in the delivery of organic chemistry teaching in support of existing courses.  

 

3.    To play a role in the development and delivery of Outreach activities.
