School of History, Salary: £32,004 - £38,183 per annum, Start: 1 September 2017 or as soon as possible thereafter, Fixed term for 3 years

Applications are invited for a 3-year Research Fellowship in legal history, available from 1 September 2017 to 31 August 2020. The position is to work with Professor John Hudson on the ERC Advance Grant funded project ‘Civil Law, Common Law, Customary Law: Consonance, Divergence and Transformation in Western Europe from the late eleventh to the thirteenth centuries’ (CLCLCL). This position will concentrate on developments in northern Italy in the period.

The School of History welcomes applications from historians and lawyers working on any topic related to this theme. In addition to pursuing the specified research within the project, the successful applicant will be required to participate in the broader work of the project by contributing to workshops and outreach activities.

Applicants should have completed or nearly completed a PhD in a related topic.
