Professor/Reader in Homogeneous Catalysis - AC9760SB
School of Chemistry

School of Chemistry, Salary: Professor: Negotiable/Reader: £49,772 - £55,998 per annum, Start: As soon as possible

The School of Chemistry at the University of St Andrews aims to appoint a Reader or Professor in the area of Homogeneous Catalysis.

The School is a partner in EaStCHEM, the joint School between the Universities of Edinburgh and St Andrews. In the recent REF 2014 assessment, EaStCHEM came 2nd in the UK Power ranking and 6th in the Intensity ranking from 32 submissions.

St Andrews Chemistry is a dynamic research environment with ~35 research leaders, ~140 Ph.D students and 70 PDRAs.

The School has a strong teaching ethos and the appointment will be required to contribute and engage creatively in the teaching at both undergraduate and post graduate levels. We offer undergraduate courses to MChem level and in 2016 St Andrews Chemistry graduated the largest class in our history.

We are the lead partner of the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Critical Resource Catalysis (CRITICAT), a Ph.D training programme directly relevant to the advertised appointment.

Applicants will have an outstanding research profile at their career stage and will be expected to develop a contemporary programme in catalysis. The successful candidate will already have a well-established track record, demonstrated by high impact publications and an ability to finance their research programme via significant peer reviewed funding.

Many research groups belong to the Biological Science Research Centre (BSRC), an adjoined building which harbours a scientific community (~32 PI’s) across the Schools of Chemistry, Biology, Medicine and Physics, conducting interdisciplinary research in biomedicine.

The School holds an Athena Swan Silver Award, and we are committed to building a more culturally diverse School and encourage applications from female and minority candidates.
