Research Fellow in Algebra - CD7970
School of Mathematics and Statistics £27,428 - £29,909 per annum Start: As soon as possible Fixed Term for 2 years
Available immediately, for a duration of 2 years, with a possible short extension at the end, depending on the available funds. You will join the EPSRC funded project on 'Automata, Languages, Decidability in Algebra'. You should hold, or be about to obtain, a Ph.D. degree in Mathematics, and have knowledge of at least one of Group Theory, Semigroup Theory or Theoretical Computer Science. Interdisciplinary expertise will be an advantage. You will be a member of the successful Algebra and Combinatorics research group, and also of the interdisciplinary CIRCA centre involving Mathematics and Computer Science.
* This post is a development role, and as such is placed on the training grade (Grade 6T). It provides the opportunity for the role holder to develop and build up relevant experience, in a structured manner, which will ultimately equip them with the skills and competencies required to effectively undertake a full grade 6 role. It is expected that this development will take place over a period of up to three years. However, applications will be considered from candidates with more experience/knowledge of the area for appointment on Grade 6, salary range £29,972 - £35,788 per annum, with the duties to be agreed and altered accordingly.
