Transition University of St Andrews (Transition UStA) seeks a Project Officer to facilitate and support research aimed at solving climate change and sustainability issues with a particular focus on those relating to our Universities operations and local community. The post holder will develop and facilitate networks that bring together academics and operational staff with the aim of identifying opportunities for collaboration on climate change mitigation. There will be an emphasis on supporting practical research that links to the Universities operations similar to a “Living Labs” type model. This facilitation role will include hosting events, meetings and workshops and investigating non-academic funding sources whilst widely promoting the networks research in order to share knowledge and support the practical uptake of research. The role will also incorporate practical engagement projects within the University that are undertaken by Transition UStA focused on household waste re-use (StAnd Re-use) and energy reduction in halls (interhall energy competition).
 
To fill the position of Transition Project Officer, Transition UStA requires a highly motivated individual who has an understanding of academic research funding and policy.  They must be able to work independently, and as part of a team, and be able to engage and inspire diverse groups of individuals regarding the use of research for solving local sustainability issues.  Strong organisational, communication, and IT skills are a must.
 
On a day-to-day basis, the Transition UStA Manager will work closely with the Project Officer with support and direction from key academics and the Transition UStA Steering Group.

Some flexible working, in evenings and on weekends, will be required.

This is a fixed term post for 3 years
