IT Services at the University of St Andrews is seeking an experienced and highly motivated SITS Application Specialist to take responsibility for the effective provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, security and maintenance of the University’s Student Records (SITS) and associated systems.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an extremely capable and motivated team who are working very closely with other Schools and Units to help the University find new and more efficient ways of handling its academic processes, even if these involve significant breaks from the past.

The successful candidate will help shape these processes by providing strategic input based on their knowledge of SITS and through their desire to innovate.  

Educated to degree standard or equivalent, the successful candidate will be highly numerate with proven experience of managing, supporting and upgrading the SITS application in an enterprise environment, experience of SITS automated scripting and proven ability to produce comprehensive supporting documentation.

Detailed knowledge of the SITS 3-tier architecture, knowledge of the core structure common to all SITS component modules, detailed knowledge of e-Vision and working knowledge of Change Management in an enterprise environment are all essential.

Experience in a Unix-based environment, experience of PL/SQL, ability to write TUP-based triggers and experience of managing and running Apache Tomcat application servers, whilst not essential, would be an advantage, together with knowledge of the SITS SRL scripting environment, of setting up and developing with StuTalk and of working with an Oracle RDBMS.

Additionally they will be able to demonstrate:
• Ability to work openly and co-operatively with others, both within immediate project teams and customers elsewhere in the University.
• Self-motivation and ability to organise own time effectively as well as to motivate and advise others to schedule their own workloads
• Outstanding written and oral presentation skills; able to present complex ideas at the appropriate level to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Excellent analytical and problem solving skills, able to develop and implement innovative solutions to complex/diverse problems and issues
