Details
Transition University of St Andrews (Transition UStA) seeks a part time Project Officer to implement practical projects to help the University of St Andrews and local community minimise their impact on the environment. The role will complement the work of St Andrews Communities Working Together (a joint initiative between Transition UStA and St Andrews Environment Network). The Project Officer will work with our existing Project Officer to deliver low-carbon initiatives across the University and town in an effort to turn St Andrews into one of the most sustainable communities in the UK.

To fill the position of part time Project Officer, Transition UStA requires a highly motivated individual who is able to work independently, and as part of a team. You must have the ability to engage and inspire diverse groups of individuals regarding sustainability issues. Strong organisational, communication, and IT skills are a must. There is an emphasis on development of research-linked projects and so preference will be given to candidates with degrees or who can demonstrate research awareness.

As Project Officer, your main responsibilities will be to coordinate existing projects; develop links between academia and grassroots groups; support student-led ideas; and engage with external organisations on sustainability initiatives with the University. The Project Officer will complement existing positions and so a key aspect of the role will to be investigate how Transition can contribute to an integrated approach to sustainability across the University and to develop a 2 year plan to achieve this objective. On a day-to-day basis, the Transition UStA Steering Group will provide direction to the Project Officer; however, the role will also work closely with the existing Transition Project Coordinator and Project Officer. Some flexible working, in evenings and on weekends, will be required.

The hours of work will be 14.5 per week to be agreed with the department.
