Lecturer in the History of Scotland and the Wider World, c.1600-c.1914 – AC2313NB

School of History Salary: £42,149 - £51,799 per annum Start Date: 1 August 2022, or as soon as possible thereafter

We wish to appoint a Lecturer within the School of History. You will be a scholar with a growing international research reputation in the history of Scotland and its connections with the wider world between c.1600 and c.1914, and a commitment to delivering high quality teaching. The successful candidate will be expected to have a range of interests, to be active in research publication that strengthens or complements that of the School, and to be capable of teaching the subject to undergraduate and taught postgraduate students from a wide range of backgrounds. 

 

Candidates should hold a PhD in a cognate discipline. Excellent teaching skills and an interest in promoting knowledge exchange are essential.  You should also have some familiarity with grant seeking processes in relation to research councils and other sources.   

 

In addition to the application form, candidates are asked to submit: a covering letter detailing their research plans over the next five years; an outline of one proposed 3000-level (Honours) module; a CV including a list of publications; and the names of three referees.  

 

The application must not exceed a total of 10 pages of A4.
